The Minister for Immigration, Mr Hubert Opperman, visited Madrid from May 13-16, 1965, as part of a 11 weeks' tour of Britain and the Continent to promote migration in Australia. Mr Opperman visited 11 European Countries and returned via Canada and the USA. He was accompanied by Mrs Opperman, Mr P R Heydon, Secretary of the Department of Immigration, and Mrs D Simpson, his private secretary. While in Spain, Mr Opperman discussed the future of Spanish migration with Spanish and Australian officials. The Australian standards at the Madrid International rural Fair - May, 1965
