During his official visit to Germany, the Minister for Immigration, Mr Hubert Opperman, MP, on June 13, 1965 visited Clausthal-Zellerfeld, the town in the Harz Mountains where once his grandfather lived and worked. Mr Oppermans' grandfather, Otto Opperman, migrated to Australia in 1853, at the age of 16. Mr and Mrs Opperman were warmly received. Mr Opperman signs the 'Golden Book' of the town of Clausthal-Zelerfeld.
