A two-week feast of music, drama, opera, art exhibitions and open-air spectacles this month (March) put the Australian city of Adelaide among the privileged ranks of communities successful in staging an ambitious Festival of Arts. Success came from the blending of three ingredients from the old and new worlds. Top-ranking visiting artists from Europe and America, gifted Europeans now living in Australia and the Australian-born.
