Overseas talent was the main ingredient in the fine fare offered at Australia's third festival of Arts. The names of top-class artists from Europe and America and gifted newcomers now settled in Australia were prominent among credits for the 165 performances of music, ballet, opera, drama, song and dance which drew 400 000 people to the two weeks' cultural feast. An international flavour was reflected in the many floats in the Festival procession. Newcomers in national dress decorate a Red Cross float in the Festival procession on the opening day. Flags of many countries were also represented on the float
