Overseas talent was the main ingredient in the fine fare offered at Australia's third festival of Arts. The names of top-class artists from Europe and America and gifted newcomers now settled in Australia were prominent among credits for the 165 performances of music, ballet, opera, drama, song and dance which drew 400 000 people to the two weeks' cultural feast. Ballet choreographer, Robert Helpmann, came from London to Adelaide to the festival to supervise the world premier of his ballet, "The Display". Here he checks a catalogue in Adelaide's National Gallery
