Port Kembla - In June 1961, Mr Dieter Tash of the Hannoversche Allgemeine, A German Daily visited Australia. He met many settlers from Germany. On the 29th June he visited the steelworks at Port Kembla and interviewed several of the over one thousand former Germans employed there. The steelworks employ fourteen thousand, over half of them post-war settlers from Europe - Adolf Haag, pug mill operator, formerly of Neckarsulen, in front of the new blast furnace of Australian Iron and Steel Limited, the third largest blast furnace in the world.
