Port Kembla - In June, 1961, Mr Dieter Tash of the Hannoversche Allgemeine, a German Daily, visited Australia. He met many settlers from Germany. On the 29 June he visited the steelworks at Port Kembla and interviewed several of the over one thousand former Germans employed there. The steelworks employ fourteen thousand, over half of them post-war settlers from Europe - Gunther Mundkowski, formerly of Hannover, electrician with Australian Iron and Steel Limited, Port Kembla - In background third largest blast furnace in the World.
