manicurist tends celebrities - Vienna-born Maria Pinfold worked in beauty salons in Knittelfeld and Graz, Austria, before she came to Sydney with her son, Hans-Dieter, in 1955. About three weeks after arrival she found a job as manicurist in Sydney's fashionable Australia Hotel where she stayed until 1960. In that year the Chevron-Hilton opened and Maria was made head-manicurist there. Since then she has tended the hands of Sydney's society as well as many celebrities including Shirley Bassey, Katherine Hepburn, and Johnny Ray.
