Germans in the Barossa Valley - In 1957 a young German wine chemist introduced a new effervescent wine in Australia and the chemist, Guenther Prass, is back in Australia as cellar manager of the winery producing it. Geunther Prass first came to Australia in 1955 from the Seitz factory in Bad Kreuznach on a three years contract to a big winery in the Barossa Valley of South Australia where most of Australia's wine is produced. Guether Prass pours some of his favourite wine - a 1959 Spaetese Barossa Reisling for which his firm won a Gold Medal at the International Wine Exhibition in Yugoslavia in 1961
