Sydney's Opera House is being built on Bennelong Point, a 5-acre stretch of land jutting into Sydney Harbour. Completion date is 1967. The designer, Brilliant Danish architect, Joern Utzon, was one of more than 200 architects from all over the world who submitted designs for the Opera House, when a 5000 Australian Pound contest was conducted to find a suitable design in 1956. Mr Gerhard May, in charge of construction of the complicated arch rib supports for the roof, came to Australia five years ago. One of the best workers on the Opera House, he is highly regarded by the building contractors
