Dutchman Walter Kommer, who migrated to Australia from West Irian in 1953, is now the editor of "The Australian" newspaper. Walter Kommer did odd jobs, including factory work and driving, before graduating with an Honours degree in economics from Sydney University. He found a job as economics writer on the "Financial Review" and worked his way up to the editor of "The Australian". He now lives in Canberra with his English wife and two children.
