The Victorian Governments Rural Finance and Settlement Commission has helped more than 400 farmers, many of them migrants, to establish their own farms in Victoria. Typical of these migrant farmers is tom Davidson, a former policeman from Belfast, Northern Ireland, who migrated in 1956. After share-farming for several years in northern Victoria, he was allocated a 98-acres irrigated dairy farm at Dunbulbalane, 130 miles north of Melbourne, Victoria's capital.
