whale chasers converted to tuna fishing. Bernadus Witjes, 36, a marine engineer who migrated to Australia from Haarlem in 1954, to get away from seafaring, will soon be going to sea again, in his own ship. Mr Witjes, from Gedempte Raamgracht, 8, Haarlem, has bought in Brisbane, QLD, two whale chasers, and is scrapping Kos 1 and converting Kos 2 into a tuna fishing ship with a 100 ton refrigerated hold. The refit of Kos 2 is expected to take three or four months and be paid for by the sale of fittings and scrap metal from Kos 1.
