Marvin Amaro, from Fresno, California, has become the largest tomato grower in the State of NSW, Australia. At the completion of his first tomato harvest at Griffith, centre of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation area, Marvin sent 3, 000 tons of tomatoes to the local canneries, and many more tons to the market in Sydney. At the peak of the tomato harvest he had 190 people picking tomatoes on his 220 acres tomato property. He also grows cotton, rice, sorghum and carrots. He and his wife, Helen, and their eight children live in a comfortable house on his cotton property.
