Eugen Schlusser was only 11 years old when he came to Australia in 1950 with his mother brothers and sisters, from Frankfurt, West Germany. His father had died only a few days before the family was due to leave for Australia. Schlusser, now a high school teacher, started work wit the ABC, producing radio programs for various school grades. He believes in the importance of these school lessons, because for many children on distant farms and cattle stations, who cannot attend school, it is together with correspondence, the only means of receiving their education. Eugen Schlusser's job s a producer of radio programmes keeps him busy, because he visits schools to find out what the teachers want most in the programmes.
