A17 year-old immigrant from Manchuria, Jim Egoroff, has built an aluminium model of a commercial refrigerator with electronically operated doors which open and shut when told to do so. He is remodelling and air-conditioning his mother's Brisbane home and next year plans to go to Queensland University. He is one of a family which by combined effort and hard work have made a happy new life in Australia. Mrs Tamara Egoroff watches proudly as Jim makes a minor adjustment to the motor of his model refrigerator

This is me and my mother.

This refrigerator used a voice recognition system to open and close the door so people could use it with hands full of food.

If I had persevered with this then voice recognition would be at a higher standard today.

More of my stories were written up by my friend Hugh Lunn in his book "Over the Top with Jim"
