Latvian-born Vija Auzins, 19, was chosen as Australia's Homemaker of the future in a contest at Melbourne. Miss Auzins, who now lives in Adelaide, SA, is now studying to become a teacher with the SA Department of Education. She won her title from five other state finalists after having won the SA final from eight other contestants. To win, she underwent a practical cookery test, a written examination and an interview.
