A mammoth family reunion was held at Tanunda, in the wine growing Barossa Valley district of SA on Easter Day. About 600 descendants of Samuel and Anna Hoffmann and their sons, who migrated from Silesia to SA in 1847, gathered on the original homestead site to commemorate their pioneering ancestor, one of the many in a wave of German migration to the valley during the European troubles of the 1840's. Descendants came from nearly every state. Host of the party was Mr Erwin Hoffmann of North Para Winery, Tanunda. John Davenport from Hertfordshire England, has been in Australia for eight years and is a distant relative of the Hoffmann family. Here he pours claret from a keg at the Hoffman family reunion
