Television from its start in Melbourne in November 1956 has had phenomenal expansion until today there are nearly a quarter of a million television receiving sets in Melbourne and the surrounding districts. The three stations - A B C 2; G T V 9 and H S V 7 - each transmit from 45 - 57 hours a week to serve 220 000 television sets and an estimated viewing audience of 620 000 Victorians. Parallel with the spread of people from the United Kingdom and Europe. Technicians, lighting engineers, cameramen, film librarians and technical directors from Holland, Germany, Britain, Italy, Switzerland and Malta are all prominent members of Melbourne's three television stations. Annelies Wennrich, 34, formerly of Hamburg, is film librarian at HSV7. With experience with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Annelies has been with the Station since it started in 1956
