47 year-old Edward Prentle, his wife Gertrude, 44, and their children, Diter, 14, and twins Wolfgang and Woltroud, 11, came to Australia from Austria in January, 1957. Within two months, Edward and his wife were both working in the kitchens at the Wacol Migration Centre. They saved their money and bought 20 acres of land, a tractor, horse, utility and some machinery for the land. Edward gets a few tips on how to work the tractor from Corporal Jack Lewis of the Australian Army. Jack sold the land and the equipment to Edward and when off-duty, often lends a hand getting the work going
