Karl Huttinger, 27, from Langebaothein, Germany, share-farms with his Australian father-in-law on Woodford Island, in the River Clarence, northern NSW. They share the 98-acre farm, but Karl and his wife, Moira, expect to own it outright in six or seven years. Karl worked as a sugar cane cutter after he came to Australia in mid-1953. He had two cane seasons in the area around Maclean, where he now lives, and two seasons in north Queensland, where he worked on a hydro electric project in slack season. Karl Huttinger shows some of the corn he harvests from the farm at Woodford Island
