Australia this year gained 7th place in world production of motor vehicles - and reached another peak in her story of post-war development. Apart from the home market, Australian manufacturers are building up a valuable car export market to neighbouring countries, including New Zealand, Ceylon, South Africa, Indonesia and Malaya. Comprising more than 50 per cent of the workers in Australian car plants, migrants from the United Kingdom and Europe are playing a vital and varied part in the industry. Les Facer, from Birmingham, England, migrated a year ago with his wife and three children, and is now employed at the Geelong plant as a Trimmer and spray painter
