Dutch-born John Grummels, 33, began life in Australia as a labourer. Then he obtained his commercial pilot's licence and became a crop-sprayer. Now he is working with the North-West Flying Doctor Service as relieving pilot, and already he has been responsible for saving at least two lives. John says he finds this work much more stimulating than the crop-spraying. The people of the North have "terrific confidence in their flying doctors" he says.
