Dick Massaar (30), and wife Johanna de Langen migrated from Rotterdam to Australia in 1955 and now live at Gymea, New South Wales. Mr Massaar is a pastry cook and his a machinist in a men's clothing factory. They had been married only four weeks when they left their native country to start a new life in Australia. They had no trouble in finding work immediately after their arrival and lived for some time in a flat at Groa, a seaside resort near Sydney. They later bought a block of land with a temporary dwelling at Gymea, another Sydney suburb and in 1958 had their house built on the same block. The story of the Massaars in the five years they have been in Australia is an example of how smoothly newcomers can adapt themselves to new conditions and how soon they get on their feet by careful planning
