Many post-war settlers are among the 6 000 workers in the electricity industry of Queensland, Australia. They work in powerhouses, maintenance workshops, on power lines and on development projects. Some are highly skilled technicians and tradesmen, others unskilled workers. Powerhouses in the State had an output of 198 300 kilowatts in 1948. By the end of 1958 the output was 550 500 kilowatts. Ten years from now the States powerhouses (some thermal units, some hydro-electric) will produce 1 250 000 kilowatt. A general view of the Bulimba Powerhouse, Brisbane
