After arriving in Australia in January, 1951, Hank Hagen, from Amsterdam, worked for year as a carpenter's labourer, then on a sheep station in Victoria for three years. He then took his wife, Suzanna, to north Queensland, where they were taken into partnership on a tobacco farm. Hank Hagen shows some of the tobacco leaf grown on the farm he shared with Mr H Eastman before taking up his own rented farm at Mt Molloy, North Queensland. This farm has produced tobacco which sold for 240 pence per pound weight, a world record
