Self-employed. Six years ago, young carpenter, Hans Offerman, from Niederhull, Hamburg, arrived in Australia almost penniless. Within a few weeks he sold his camera and other possessions to buy tools. Now he is a building contractor, erecting an average of eight houses a year. He employs his brother, Henry, now 25, who migrated three years ago. And recently Henry married the sister of Hans' wife, in Australia. Hans is married to Karen Weber, who came from Neiderstrich, eight miles from Niederhull. Henry is married to Elke Weber. Building contractor Hans Offermann, left, and his brother Henry, erect the frame of a timber house in Australia
