Leo Slierendrecht, who abandoned his economics studies at Rotterdam University to migrate to Australia in 1954 is now an insurance inspector in Brisbane, a city of nearly 600 000 people. Mr Slierendrecht, who has Anglicised his name to Sleer, says that the average Australian is at least 30 to 40 per cent better off financially than his counterpart in Holland. Mr Sleer transacts business from his second office in his home. March 1960
