A nine year old child escaped alone from Hungary. Gustav Belansky at 8th Australian Citizenship Convention. January 1957

Gustav's story is amazing - he left behind his brothers and father in Hungary, and made his way alone through Austria. He carried with him a small satchel with his grandmother's address in Australia, which his father hoped would mean that he would be sent to Australia. When he arrived, his grandmother had made him a birthday cake, but he felt too ill from his journey to be able to eat it.

Does anyone know what happened to him?
