A family of Polish refugees from a displaced persons camp in Germany. Marcin Reczniarek, 41, his wife Janina, 34, and sons Jerzy 13 and Marian, 11, have been adopted by the municipality of Wingham in the North coast district of NSW. They were provided with a new three bedroom house and Marcin was given a job with the council. The house was furnished and stocked with food by the council. "We are so happy" said Janina as the Mayor of Wingham, Alderman F Summerville, handed over the key of the house of the night of their arrival. The family has its first sight of Sydney Harbour from the Castel Felice. From left they are, Mr Marcin Reczniarek and Marian, 11
