WW II he moved to Germany, where he lectured at the School of Fine and Applied Art at Friedburg, before migrating to Melbourne in 1949. In 1953 he attracted much favourable attention with a one man exhibitions of drawings and sculpture, followed by the gaining of the first prize in a national competition for religious art. Melbourne's "Banana Peel". The abstract sculpture and fountain created by sculptor Teisutis Zikaras for the square in front of the new Australian Telecommunication Services building in the heart of Melbourne forms a striking contrast with the strict geometric patterns of the surrounding buildings
