Charles Fleming family prior to departure. Mr and Mrs Charles Fleming and their three children, of New Cumnock, 30 miles South of Glasgow, Scotland, are the first family to be brought to Australia under the Western Hawthorn Presbyterian Church's own "Bring out a Briton" scheme. Under the scheme, the church is buying a house, which it will rent to a British migrant family until they get settled in a home of their own. Then the church will bring out another family. The Fleming family will leave for Australia in October, 1957. Mr Fleming is a bank manager. The three children are Charles 16, Morag 11, and James 7.August, 1957.
