Sgt Watt served with the First Batallion, the Royal Australian Regiment in Korea and Japan. In praising the contribution of New Australians, Mr J O Cramer, Minister for the Army, said 288 migrants from 22 different countries had enlisted in the Australian Army since March, 1951- 1962 in the regular Army for service in Australia and abroad; and 126 in the citizen Military Forces. These soldiers from other lands provide more than manpower; they contribute valuable knowledge gained through years of service in British and European armies
