German migrants from aboard the FAIRSEA, arriving at BONEGILLA Reception Centre in July 1956. Arrival at Port Melbourne of ships carrying migrants presents no problems to Australia's Immigration Officials or to migrant passengers aboard. From the moment the ships dock, every passenger is assisted in a practical, friendly way to make disembarkation as smooth as possible and round off what has been a pleasant voyage. Mr and Mrs Hans George MINT with their three children were among them - and moved quickly through Customs and boarded the train, which was to take them along with the other families to the Bonegilla Reception Centre. The same evening they were relaxing in the comfortable surroundings of the Centre. Mr Mint receives Social Service Benefits to cover living and financial expenses of his family if after seven days he has not started a suitable job
