An aircraft carrying 70 young single German girls became known as the "Bride's Plane" within an hour of landing at Melbourne. The aircraft was chartered by the Intergovernmental Committee for European Migration, especially to bring German women migrants to Australia under the West German, Australian Assisted Migration Scheme.
