A German Ichthyologist, Mr Martin Theil, who now lives in Australia, believes he is the first person ever to succeed in sending alive to Europe a rare Australian lung fish. The fresh water Queensland lung fish breathe air. Bearded Mr Theil had to obtain special permits to export the fish to Germany. He will soon be sending a 135 lb. half-grown salt water turtle. All the fish go by air. Mr Theil has developed a potent type of fish anaesthetic which subdues even a large fish while they are being caught for aquariums.
