Mrs Ruth Cole, from Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA, is being acclaimed by the Australian Press for her work in hepatitis research at the Laboratories of the Fairfield Hospital for Infectious Diseases in Melbourne. One newspaper hailed her as "the woman who beat the world to the isolation of the hepatitis virus". But Mrs Cole regards her work as an extension of the research she formerly carried out in Detroit Michigan. Mrs Cole, 34, came to Australia in 1962 with her husband, Mr Rick Cole, an electronic computer engineer
