The Minister for Immigration, Mr Hubert Opperman, left Australia on April 23, 1965, on an eleven week tour overseas to promote migration from Britain and the Continent. He was accompanied by Mrs Opperman, his private secretary, Mrs D Simpson, and Mr P R Heydon, Secretary of the Department of Immigration. Mr Opperman visited Geneva on May 5, 6 and 7. During his stay he had talks at the headquarters of I C E M (Intergovernmental-Committee for European Migration), inspected the Australian Migration Office at Geneva and addressed the members of the Council of I C E M in the Palais des Nations. On June 2, Queen Juliana of the Netherlands received the Australian Minister for Immigration, Mr H F Opperman, and his wife, at her palace at Soestdijk
