The Minister for Immigration, Mr Hubert Opperman, left Australia on April 23, on an eleven week tour to promote migration from Britain and the Continent. Mr Opperman visited eleven countries in Europe, Canada and the USA. He signed new migrant agreements in Malta, the Netherlands and Germany, gave dozens of press interviews and conferred with government officials in every capital. In Brussels, Mr Opperman found time to attend a reunion with cycling friends from the 1920's and 30's.
