Prospective migrants in Britain and Europe will in future get a preview of Australia's way of life when they apply to migrate. At special screenings in their home countries they will see an hour-long Eastmen colour film called, "The Way We Live". The aim of the film, made after detailed consultation with Department of Immigration officers overseas about the aspects of life in Australia of most interest to prospective migrants, is to show every-day life as it is for Australian and migrants alike in a typical urban community in South Australia. Radio and television artists Deryk Barnes (father), Margaret Roberts (mother) and Joanna Strathern, 7, (daughter) appear early in the film as a "migrant family" arriving in Australia. These scenes were filmed on the arrival of the migrant ship "Castel Felice" at Melbourne
