Migrants from 33 countries are playing a vital part in the dramatic expansion of Australia's steel industry. At Port Kembla Steel Works, 56 miles south of Sydney, NSW, more than 5 700 of the total work force of nearly 13 000 are post war migrants from Britain and Europe - about forty five per cent. Annual ingot steel production at the works has soared from under 500 000 tons in 1949 to 2 200 000 tons today. Jurgen Graf, 23, who migrated from Germany , five months ago, works in the laboratory at Port Kembla Steel Works. He is training to be a fully qualified laboratory assistant
