May 5th 1957 - cold and a light snow. The KLM Super- Connie with 4 propellors took 4 days to fly to Sydney via: Frankfurt, Rome, Beirut, Karachi, Bangkok (where we stayed overnight, due to an engine failure), Manilla, Biak and Darwin. Carla threw up all the way and was hospitalised on arrival at Scheyville Migrant Centre near Windsor. In August, we were moved to Villawood Migrant Centre and by end of October, we were in our own home in Lane Cove.
