In 1969 at the age of 21, Cecylia was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to study piano abroad, including a return to her home country where she would compete in the Eighth International Chopin Piano Competitions, to be held in Warsaw in 1970. Other ports of call were Austria, Italy and the United Kingdom.
